Dr. Ellen Michaelson

Meet Dr. Michaelson

Dr. Ellen Michaelson grew up in New England. She graduated from Brandeis University and earned her MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and her MFA from Pacific University.

She did her training in Internal Medicine and Hematology in New York City. Dr. Michaelson worked at Harlem Hospital on faculty at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. A founding member of the Ethics Committee at Harlem,Dr. Michaelson was an NEW Fellow in Medical Humanities, and did advanced work at the Narrative Medicine Workshop at Columbia University. In Portland, she is on the board at the NW Narrative Medicine Collaborative.

In Oregon, Dr. Michaelson spent a year in rural practice in the Dalles before moving to Portland. She joined the faculty at OHSU where she saw patients, taught, and was Director of the Anticoagulation Clinic
She has recently joined Cascade Physicians PC.

She made a video on end-of-life care while at Harlem and has published short fiction and essays. Her novel, “From the Love of Strangers” is currently under consideration for publication.

Meet Alicia Marrah-Pierson

Alicia joins Cascade Physicians with over thirteen years of experience as a family nurse practitioner in family practice and college health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing and a Master of Nursing from Washington State University. Alicia became a nurse practitioner to provide healthcare to patients in an authentic way, and believes her role is to help educate and inform her patients and work together in partnership to achieve realistic personal healthcare goals. She values practicing with integrity and providing not only quality patient care but positive patient experiences. Alicia’s clinical interests include preventive care and women’s health. She loves being there for her patients by providing unbiased, evidence based information and care, as well as support and reassurance in an inclusive environment. She enjoys home improvement, gardening, baking, outdoor and family activities.
